The Diploma in Community Health Nursing, offered in partnership with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK), is designed to prepare highly skilled, compassionate, and competent nursing professionals who can deliver quality healthcare across diverse healthcare settings. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates qualify as Community Health Nurses, with competencies in clinical nursing, community health nursing, and midwifery, enabling them to provide comprehensive healthcare services across the continuum of care.

Our state-of-the-art Skills and Simulation Laboratory provides a realistic learning environment where students develop essential nursing competencies before entering clinical practice. Through simulated patient care scenarios, learners strengthen their clinical judgment, critical thinking, decision-making, communication, and technical skills in a safe, supervised setting.

Students also benefit from extensive clinical placements and community-based practical experiences in accredited hospitals, health centres, maternity units, and community health programmes. These hands-on learning opportunities allow them to apply classroom knowledge in real healthcare environments while building confidence, professionalism, and competence.

Through strategic partnerships with leading healthcare institutions and community organizations, our students gain exposure to a wide range of healthcare settings, preparing them to deliver preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative, and palliative care to diverse populations.

Graduates of our Community Health Nursing programme are highly sought after by public and private hospitals, health centres, community health programmes, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), schools, research institutions, and humanitarian agencies. They are well-equipped to make a meaningful impact in improving health outcomes and advancing quality healthcare both nationally and beyond.

DIPLOMA IN NURSING – KENYA REGISTERED COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE (KRCHN)

After completing Diploma in Community Health Nursing+ at Nakuru College of Health Sciences and Management, graduates have a wide range of practice areas to explore and pursue, depending on their interests, skills, and career goals. Some of the practice areas available to nursing graduates include:

1. Acute Care Nursing: Acute care nurses work in hospitals (Level 6, Level 5, Level 4), clinics, and other healthcare settings to provide care for patients with serious or complex medical conditions. They may work in specialties such as emergency medicine, critical care, medical-surgical nursing, or specialty areas like oncology or cardiology.
2. Primary Care Nursing: Primary care nurses work in outpatient settings such as physician offices, community health centers, and clinics, providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages.
3. Community Health Nursing: Community health nurses focus on promoting health and preventing disease within communities. They may work in public health departments, community clinics, schools, or nonprofit organizations, providing health education, conducting screenings, and coordinating health programs.
4. Pediatric Nursing: Pediatric nurses specialize in caring for infants, children, and adolescents in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, pediatric clinics, schools, and specialty pediatric practices.
5. Nurse Education and Leadership: Nursing graduates may also choose to pursue careers in education or leadership roles, such as nurse educators, nurse managers, or nursing administrators.
